In Elementary, Middle School

Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gough, provided the beautiful inspiration for this amazing starry night mural in summer camp last week.

We started with black paper and students lightly sketched several various sized circles with pencil.  We then layered lots of blues, greens and purples with swirling brush strokes, finishing up with the lighter colors at the end.   Where the swirls around the circles started to join, they would fill in the space in between with paint, keeping their brushed moving in a circular motion.

After the first layers of cool colors dried, students added warm colors for the stars.

It was an amazing collaboration and the photographs don’t do it justice!
