{"id":16014,"date":"2017-12-20T13:53:00","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T13:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.smallhandsbigart.com\/?p=16014"},"modified":"2018-12-31T01:13:31","modified_gmt":"2018-12-31T01:13:31","slug":"winter-reindeer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smallhandsbigart.com\/fort-mill\/winter-reindeer\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter Reindeer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>These adorable reindeer paintings were created by a full house of young artists in a winter break camp!<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smallhandsbigart.com\/fort-mill\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/12\/painteddeer11.jpg\" alt=\"Winter Reindeer \/\/ www.smallhandsbigart.com\" width=\"640\" height=\"965\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The kids in this camp were mixed ages 5-12.\u00a0 We did a quick instructional drawing with the entire class, creating the reindeer out of simple shapes.\u00a0 \u00a0From there, kids could work at their appropriate age level to personalize their reindeer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smallhandsbigart.com\/fort-mill\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/12\/painteddeer10.jpg\" alt=\"Winter Reindeer \/\/ www.smallhandsbigart.com\" width=\"640\" height=\"936\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We used a layering painting technique, starting with base coats of wintery shades of tempera paint we mixed up special for this project.\u00a0 We love to take straight tempera paint and mix shades of gray into it to achieve these soothing colors!\u00a0 We also sometimes start with a base of gray tempera and add a few squirts of liquid watercolor to &#8220;tint&#8221;
