Camp Drop Off & Pick Up Information

Watch this short video of our Camp Drop Off / Pick Up process!

Two Options for Summer Camp Pick Up

1. Fast Pass

Fast Pass is a streamlined pick up option that allows you to write your child(ren)’s name on an SHBA Fast Pass Placard and display it to us at pick up without having to wait in line to sign and provide photo ID (same concept as if you were displaying a placard on your dashboard in a carpool line).

2. Sign Out

Sign Out:  For those electing to opt out of the Fast Pass program, you or whoever you authorize to pick up your child(ren) will be required to personally sign them out and provide photo ID.

Monday Drop Off / Check In Process & Time

The check in line on Monday goes quickly if you have your Parent Portal info up to date ( emergency contact info, medical information about your child, and all name + cell of individuals you authorize to pick up).  On Monday, we will have two check in stations.

  • The ART STUDIO entrance is for Art campers and Full Day campers
  • The POTTERY STUDIO entrance is for those attending Pottery camp

The Art Studio and Pottery Studio doors are on the side of the building that faces Desano Pizza, with the Art studio closest to Waverly Walk & Haagen Dazs (see the photo above).   We will have signage to direct you.  There is ample parking in/around the Parking Deck area which is only a few steps away (pull behind Whole Foods and look for the blue P sign).

Anyone can drop off your child; however, on Monday we strongly recommend that either you or a fully informed designate drop off, as we will need to verify that we have all of your required emergency contact info and that your Parent Portal account reflects all names and cell phone #s for anyone other than you that you authorize to pick up.

If you’re in the Full Day program, on Monday morning we will inform you of your child(ren)’s schedule and advise you of the 4pm pick up location – either the Pottery Studio door or the Art Studio door.

Please form a single file line and the check in process will begin at 8:45.  Please be patient; we assure you that drop off for the rest of the week will be super quick!   For the rest of the week you may quickly drop off your child(ren) up to 10 minutes prior to the start of their camp at their Art or Pottery Studio door (as applicable) without needing to speak with a staff member (unless you have questions!), and pick up is promptly at the end of camp.

What to Bring

Every day, please bring:

  • A water bottle with your child’s name on it.   Don’t forget to make sure they bring it home at pick up!
  • If your child is in the Full Day Program, please bring a NUT FREE lunch.  We provide a light nut free snack in the am and pm (a choice of goldfish, pretzels, and animal crackers).  If you prefer, you can bring your own light nut free snack (nothing fancy, it’s a short snack!). To monitor for nut allergies, all processed food other than lunch meat and cheese must be in the original package so we can read the ingredients (i.e.,  no crackers in a ziplock bag).
  • If your child is prescribed a Medical Device such as an Epi Pen, inhaler, diabetic monitor, etc., you are required to bring it to camp every day (and take it home at the end of each day).  No exceptions.

Grab Your Fast Pass

If you’re opting into the SHBA Fast Pass Program for pick up, collect a placard to personally give to each person you plan to pick up (sitters, nannies, grandparents, a parent of a friend attending camp with your child, etc.).  If you have more than one sibling in camp, please write all names on one placard if there’s room, or use a second one if necessary.  The Fast Pass option places ownership and responsibility solely on you to control who picks up your child(ren); anyone you give a placard to can pick up without having to wait in line to sign out and provide photo ID. We will not ask their name, verify their authorization or keep a record of who picked up.  Note that every individual you give a placard to must still be officially listed in your Parent Portal account as authorized to pick up so that if a questionable situation arises we have a record of the individuals you authorized.

Take the placards with you and before returning for pick up, write your child(ren)’s names as large and bold as possible in Sharpie (first name(s) on top, last name on bottom).   We’ll have some jumbo Sharpies handy if you want to step aside and write them on the spot in lieu of digging through your glove box for a Sharpie.  Examples:

Pick Up Process

Please gather outside adjacent to the Art or Pottery studio door (as applicable for the camp your child is in).  We will open the doors at 12pm and 4pm (as applicable) with staff at the doors to facilitate pick up.   If you need to pick up early, please tell us when you drop off so that we can make sure to have your child all ready to go, and just come to the applicable door and knock (we keep our doors locked for the safety of our students).

Fast Pass Participants:   Hold up your placard(s) with your camper(s) name(s) so that we can see them from our station at the door.  A staff member will call your camper(s) to the door. If you are planning to carpool with another family during pick-up, each family is responsible for sharing one of their fast passes with the coordinating carpool family; therefore a carpool pick up parent will be holding (1) placard up for each family unit they are picking up.

If you forget your placard, you will be asked to wait in the Sign Out Line to sign them out and provide photo ID, no exceptions. By participating in the Fast Pass Program, you are accepting sole responsibility for controlling who picks up your child; anyone you have given a placard to can pick up, without an SHBA staff member checking photo ID, verifying their authorization or keeping a record of who picked up.

Sign Out Option: There will be a staff member at the checkout cart dedicated to assisting those who prefer to walk up and check out their camper(s).  Everyone picking up must provide a photo ID.  We can only release a child to someone you have authorized for pick up in your Parent Portal.
