TEEN SUMMER APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

We are thrilled to offer an exclusive Teen Summer Apprenticeship program at the Waverly South Charlotte Studio!
Designed for rising 8th – 12th graders, this immersive mentorship and internship-style experience is perfect for teens passionate about visual arts, creativity, leadership, arts education, and entrepreneurship. If your teen loves making art, inspiring others, and working in a collaborative studio, this program is for you!
Program Details
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Available Weeks: June 23 – 27, July 21 – 25, August 11 – 15
- Cost: $500 per week-long session
- Limited Spots: Only 5 students per session for personalized mentorship

What You'll Experience:

STUDIO SESSION | 10:00 – 11:30 AM
- Develop a focused, professional-level art project guided by an experienced mentor.
- Learn to pitch and propose your creative ideas.
- Troubleshoot materials, enhance techniques, and receive personalized feedback.
- Prepare a finished piece for a gallery show or portfolio.
- Bring a favorite playlist to share, waterbottle, and a “crush it” attitude!
INTERN + LUNCH BREAK | 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Gain hands-on leadership experience assisting younger summer art campers (ages 4-12).
- Assist in the daily operations of our professional art & pottery studio—preparing materials, organizing projects, and capturing special moments for social media.
- Build skills in efficiency, flexibility, creativity, and responsibility—key to any future career.
- Enjoy a lunch & recharge break with time for sketching, a little outdoor re-set (accompanied by SHBA), enjoying quiet time or socializing. Optional Parental Authorization + Waiver for older participants age 16+ who may prefer to go offsite for their lunch break.
ARTIST SEMINAR & SKILL DEVELOPMENT | 1:30 – 3:00 PM
- Join small-group discussions and hands-on workshops in fine art techniques.
- Explore topics like the value of art, career development, and creative entrepreneurship.
- Experience both in-studio learning and off-site exploration in the Waverly community.
Application Process
Complete the APPLICATION. Select preferred week(s)—as admissions roll in, you may be accepted for one or multiple sessions as space allows. Students submit a short response about their interest in the program.
Next Steps:
- Receive an email with your acceptance details.
- Confirm your spot by responding to the invitation.
- Complete the Student Code of Conduct and Parent Waiver.
- Pay a $150 non-refundable deposit per session; the remaining balance is due the week prior to each session.
Before Your Session:
We’ll provide details on what to wear, bring, and expect. Students share their preferred project medium so we can prep materials accordingly.
